Exhausted? How to stretch those hours into quality not quantity.

I often find myself taking on too many tasks and too many projects as they always seem to come in clusters. I feel as though I may not know when the next job comes as an illustrator so when a multitude of work comes my way I just can’t say no.

Typically I work late evening night hours as much as my body will physically allow, only to burn out and eventually become ill. So when is really a good time to stop working and be more productive at your job at home or in the office?

Well, I have started to use certain increments of time during the day or evening that it is set in stone that I set aside for my family and activities because really isn’t that who you are working for anyway? These time slots are not allowed to be broken they are a must a block of time to set aside that will not be broken.

If you don’t take those breaks for yourself, I find the creativity stops flowing and you become so exhausted that the quality of your work suffers as a result. Not to mention family members and friends wondering where you went to. So even if it is 20 mins to read that article that has been sitting on the table for weeks or just stopping to enjoy that cup of coffee or listen to your friends and families day can take huge advantages to your overall moral and health.

So even if it is 20 mins to read that article that has been sitting on the table for weeks or just stopping to enjoy that cup of coffee or listen/text to your friends and families day can take huge advantages to your overall moral and health.

Work is work and family is family and they cannot be replaced so remember that the next time you decide to work late to get in extra hours to buy that bigger home no one will ever see you in.  Remember what is really important, you, your health and your family.

Glass Half full

When you look at a glass that contains a liquid within it, do you look at it as half full or half empty?

This is an age old question of our own outlook on life. If we believe it to be half full then we are more likely to be positive and if we look at it as half empty then we look at it as a negative.

How about if I said to you, you should be happy to have a glass, never mind the clean water it contains. Now lets get to the thoughts which provoked these responses. When we are told as kids that we should be grateful for everything we have how much of that “what we have”, have we decided was a requirement to be happy? Depending on your parents financial gains we decide from young either we want more of what they had or better.

If our parents were not financially well off did we as kids feel ashamed of our family? Because we didn’t have the latest and greatest of the other kids in school? We decided some how because of what someone else had that they MUST be happy inour minds and from TV that those smiling faces enjoying the new beverage or the new trend that it is what makes people happy.

We decided that in order to get what they have we have to be better at everything. We need to work endless hours because we want it bad and if we show the everyone just how hard we work someone will eventually see this and reward our efforts. But what if our efforts are still not rewarded? What if instead we get fired? we lose our happiness?

Why do we define our happiness in the hands of someone else? Why can’t we just be happy now? who gave them the right to hold on to our happiness and decide when we could have it anyway?

We DECIDE what makes us happy, it isn’t about material things really is it? The fact that you opened your eyes to another day and can see, touch, smell and hear is reason enough to be happy. Now lets add the fact that you are able to read this, you have internet! So when life takes a turn we don’t like remember that ourselves provide the happiness in our lives we can change it or rewrite it or move or get another job, start a business, what ever it is. WE MAKE OUR SELF HAPPY by what we think and believe.

I am going to leave you with this amazing video it is life changing. > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0K_JK8IRJcQ&t=6s&index=18&list=PL5Ig3iuV1wT7SlSVnPKrvGpJfH__l59XG

2016 The Year of Learning

“Learning has no past Wisdom is something that has to be discovered by each one, and it is not the result of knowledge. Knowledge and wisdom do not go together. Wisdom comes when there is the maturity of self-knowing. Without knowing oneself, order is not possible, and therefore there is no virtue. Now, learning about oneself, and accumulating knowledge about oneself, are two different things…A mind that is acquiring knowledge is never learning. What it is doing is this: it is gathering to itself information, experience as knowledge, and from the background of what it has gathered, it experiences, it learns; and therefore it is never really learning, but always knowing, acquiring. Learning is always in the active present; it has no past. The moment you say to yourself, “I have learned,” it has already become knowledge, and from the background of that knowledge you can accumulate, translate, but you cannot further learn. It is only a mind that is not acquiring, but always learning—it is only such a mind that can understand this whole entity that we call the “me,” the self. I have to know myself, the structure, the nature, the significance of the total entity; but I can’t do that burdened with my previous knowledge, with my previous experience, or with a mind that is conditioned, for then I am not learning, I am merely interpreting, translating, looking with an eye that is already clouded by the past.”-Jiddu Krishnamurti The book of Life

This past year has been one of the best years yet. I have learned so much about myself and about art. I have come to realize that the very foundation of all that matters is not the pay check at the end of it all, but the satisfaction of a job well done.

It isn’t about fame and being the best it is about being your own personal best. Better then you were the year before. I also realized just how powerful our thoughts are. We think of something we want and the universe brings it to us. It is the intelligence of responding to what is presented that makes experiences and learning. Sometimes we fall but we have to figure out what went wrong to direct us to the right path. That in itself is one of the biggest things I have learned. If things aren’t going the direction we want then a slight change in how we get to that goal is all that is required not to give up is to give in. And I am not one to accept that. I want to thank all of the people in my life who have made it worth living who have presented these wonderful opportunities and created doors I only imagined.

I will move forward to 2017 with those memories and look forward to new goals I have set for myself and can’t wait to win some lose some and rise above and really learn!

For those who have helped me young and old, family and friends I thank you for the advice for the lending ear and just for everything. I am grateful for each and everyone of you. My kids and my wonderful circle of friends. And all of you who are reading this right now, thank you! Thank you for reading thank you for following and thank you for being you!

Swinging moods? How to get off them

From one day to the next is a totally different circumstance a new challenge to face. A thing to over come.

This quote says it all by Orville Wright ‘if we all worked on the assumption that what is accepted as true, there would be little hope of advance.’

In our world we are constantly effected by the people around us and our environment. Perhaps we don’t like where we live or the people we live with can work a last nerve at times or maybe we are in a job we don’t really want to be in. Its all relative to how we feel inside.

When you wake what are your habits? do you stir slowly from your bed and dread the day? Do you think that the coffee will be able to turn it all around?

Well I am sorry to say if you do any of these you will still have a rotten day. Because no matter what the very first thought that came into your head this morning was negative. You already planned out to just get by and survive and not see it as a potential for an amazing opportunity to learn something new or take on a new goal.

How can we change that? since the first moment you woke you were already programmed as eww its Monday I have to work and pay for life.

Here are some helpful tips to get off that mood swing monday roller coaster.

  1. Set your alarm to a favorite tune.
  2. Decide before you even open your eyes that today no matter what challenge you will be successful.
  3. Stretch out your body. When those feet hit the floor make sure to warm up that body with a few bends to touch the toes and twists at the waist. If you feel good your mind will follow.
  4. Eat something before coffee. (yes I know most of us only have coffee as fuel but it does not help with moods)
  5. Dress for success. Whether you feel good or not when you dress in something that you think makes you look nice, your mood is boosted.
  6. Read the funny pages, or knock knock jokes online! yes it sounds silly but it gets the giggles going and helps with mood as well.
  7. Help someone else feel better if they are feeling sad in your house by reading the jokes aloud for everyone to hear. It changes the dynamics of the house really fast. Tested an approved, it does work!

So no matter your circumstances for work, life, love or where you live, get up every morning with a decision to be happy and positive and it will radiate through out your day and to others.
